"We know that there's going to be a "violent confrontation" with the werewolves in episode 13 and some fallout in episode 14. Can you tell us which side Tyler is going to be on in the showdown?
[Laughs] That's interesting because he's learning so much right now that he's probably just right in the middle. He's right in the middle of it all and just figuring out who's lying, who's telling the truth, who means well, who doesn't. That's where he's at, which is weird because at the end of the day he is a werewolf. He has transformed. But, he's right in the middle because his relationship with Caroline is really close."

TV Line: Michael Trevino talks about Tyler's journey in the next few episodes

Michael Trevino has been getting a lot of press lately and I'm so happy about that because he deserves it.

“We’re going into a love triangle with Caroline, Matt and Tyler,” he teases. “But given the circumstances, I don’t think it’s anything that [Tyler or Caroline] are pursuing; it’s just happened. Organically, something is happening between them, and in turn, it makes for a lot of awkwardness between Matt and Tyler.”
Sadly, the awkwardness carries on, making Tyler’s only other friend (besides Caroline) the mysterious new wolf-chick, Jules (Michaela McManus). “We have Tyler, who is a werewolf, who becomes very close to a vampire [Candice Accola's Caroline], who he thinks is the only vampire in town. And then he starts to actually like her. And then once he finds out the truth, he feels a little bit betrayed by her. But then he also wants to hear out Stefan [Paul Wesley], and how he’s saying we can coexist. And then you have Jules and Brady [the friend of Tyler's dearly departed Uncle Mason who Jules was chatting with on the phone in the last episode who soon arrives in town], who are like, ‘No, don’t listen to them. You don’t want any part of that. This is the way it’s supposed to be. We’re not supposed to be friends with them. You shouldn’t be this close to Caroline. Trust me, it’s not good for you.’ So after all this, all these people coming into Tyler’s head, he has to make a move: What does he want to do? Which way is he gonna live?”

Candice Accola and Michael Trevino seem to be getting a lot of press lately around L.A. in the past few days. I have a feeling it's because of the long awaited episode "By The Light Of The Moon" is growing closer to appearing on our televisions! "Romance or friendship-wise, do you think they're doomed in a way since vampires and werewolves are historically enemies?
It's definitely got a Romeo and Juliet quality to it, the idea of them becoming romantic. Who knows? That didn't end very well with Romeo and Juliet. [Laughs] Hopefully, it wouldn't be that same result for Caroline and Tyler. I don't know. Really, right now, the most prominent thing going on between both of them is finding a safe place for Tyler to transform. It's really about his transformation right now. It's not about anything else, which I think is such a wonderful thing because, for Caroline, any involvement with a member of the opposite sex was immediately sexual throughout the first season. It was immediately like crush-worthy. It wasn't just like a friendship. I think it's just a lovely way of showing that she as a character has grown within the second season. It's more than just about a boy I immediately have to have a crush on. It's a friendship. It's something a little bit more substantial."
