"Since we were on the topic of (potential) Klaus casualties, we also asked Plec whether Isobel set herself ablaze willingly or under compulsion last week. “I love that people debate it, because I think it’s actually fun to think of either way, but very deliberately, we used the same language as in episode 115, with the guy that got hit by the bus,” she says. “At the end of each of them, the person who’s been compelling them says, ‘Okay, you’re done,’ and they say, ‘I’m done’ like they’re grateful. So it’s a compulsion like a suicide bomber. I have done the task that I was compelled to do, and now my reason for existence is over. So we deliberately echoed that same language to imply that her death had been written in the cards by Klaus already. Why I loved Isobel taking [Elena] to the cemetery and finding a work-around her compulsion, where she’s not allowed to say anything, is she was able to apologize for not being a good mother and to give Elena that before she did what she had to do. If anything, Isobel in death was able to give Elena a tiny bit of closure.” You can read the rest of the interview over at EW

WetPet interviews Julie Plec.
"Does Tyler turn into a werewolf? — Ayla Lawrence
We’ve got two words for you, Ayla: Hell yes! The folks over at TVD promise that the Lockwood family curse won’t turn out to be a big teen wolf tease. In fact, Julie says we can probably expect Tyler to put the hair of the dog on his chest before Christmas. “I can’t be super specific about it. We’re still figuring it out. But it will probably be Episode 11, which will be the episode that takes us into the holiday hiatus.”Plec wouldn’t tell us who it is that Tyler kills to initiate the werewolf transformation.(“You know I can’t,” she says.) What’s even more annoying? The date might change so we could end up having to wait until — gasp — 2011! “It hasn’t been set in stone yet,” Julie says. “But we’re aiming to send our audience out to their holiday hiatus with that.” What a wonderful gift that would be. We’re hungry for more shirtless moments already!"

Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson's interview with New York Post

"PW: The last time you made one of the main characters a vampire -- vicky -- she didn't last very long. Will Caroline have a longer shelf life?
Kevin: I think it’s safe to say yes.
Julie: Here’s the deal, Caroline could die in any episode – she is doomed. She is absolutely, fundamentally doomed by definition of her own personality and her lot in life. Her mom’s in the council and is the sheriff. She's also a neurotic, jealous busybody who is always putting her foot in her mouth and Damon isn’t going to put up with her – so she’s doomed. The question is, how much fun can we have getting her out of those doomed situations and for how long. Because we really, really believe that this character has a long shelf life.PW: I can't wait to see Candice Accola as a vampire!
Julie: She’s amazing. We have a lot of fun. The sad part is, now that she’s a vampire, it doesn’t bode well for other people's shelf lives. Now we have one more vampire around to kill people."
