Ian Somerhalder talks going green in Hollywood

Mark Malkin and Brett Malec of E Online interviewed Ian Somerhalder who talks about the IS Foundation and much more throughout this article.

"The foundation is currently focusing on deforestation. It recently collaborated with Conservation International to save over 300 acres of forest. "We have to stop cutting these forests," Somerhalder says. But he also realizes, "We must answer the question: Where and how will we get the resources that we need out of those forests?"

NY Post: Ian Somerhalder talks 'Vampire Diaries" spoilers

Ian Somerhalder dishes out about season 2 of The Vampire Diaries. Read the rest of this interview over at
the NYP

"PW: I'd imagine that delivering that emotional monologue
also took quite a bit out of you.

Ian: That was a very cathartic few hours not only for Damon, but also for me. Sometimes those types of scenes are really, really interesting because they come from a place deep within yourself. You are forced to put yourself through what that character is going through, so there’s an interesting connection there for an actor. This little journey that senior Damon is on is one to be reckoned with. He’s asking real serious questions that we’ve all asked ourselves. It just happens to be coming from a person who is 160 plus years old [laughs]."-PopWrap

E Online: Ian Somerhalder talks about Tonight's episode of The Vampire Diaries "Memory Lane"

Kristen does such an amazing job! Always great interviews with the cast members!

"We're going to learn a lot about this werewolf thing in tonight's episode," Ian tells us of "Memory Lane." "Katherine is actually the one that explains a lot of what's going on. It's interesting to see where this whole thing came from in Mystic Falls—who knew about it [and] how vampires got involved. It's a very enlightening episode."
Also heading your way tonight is the crazy-good face-off between Katherine and Elena, which does not go well for one (or both!) of the ladies.
Bob Mahoney/The CW

"Katherine's definitely not going to buy her flowers," laughs Ian. "She's going to kill Elena if she doesn't get what she wants, there's no two ways about it. Plus, Katherine can't kill Elena until Damon gets to at least sleep with her once!" Um, yes please!
Ian does leave us on a bright note: A tiny semblance of hope that sometime in The Vampire Diaries future, Damon will rid himself of Katherine's hold and find the happiness we all want for him."Damon learned a great deal that she is not the person you want to be in love with," the star reassures us. "She is the unobtainable woman that you don't want to obtain. But in a time of need, he can probably still be manipulated by her." Read more: E Online

TV Fanatic's interview with Ian Somerhalder.

Ian Somerhalder was recently interviewed by TV Fanatic and Ian talks a lot about his character, Emmy's, and what's going on with Elena/Stefan. Here are just a few tidbits from the article, but make sure you go over to TV Fanatic to read the rest of this interview with Ian.

"We've learned a lot about Damon via flashbacks. Is there any background on the character you'd still like to know?
What his favorite color was. No, just kidding. Yeah, there are a couple of things. I would like to know what Damon was doing to fill those 150 years. I can almost guarantee that he slept with Marilyn Monroe, and probably hung out with Carrie Grant and Humphrey Bogart and all those guys. Did he go to Rolling Stone concerts? How cool would it be to see a scene of old stock footage of Damon being in the exact same clothing, but sort of standing backstage or sitting in the front of a Rolling Stone concert in 1968. How cool would that be? Maybe by season three when we have the money [laughs].
What were those 150 years filled with? I wouldn’t say that Damon was the most philanthropic human being in the world, but who knows. Was he? I don’t know. I’d love to know what he did, the relationships that he had. It’s interesting.
What's your favorite Damon one-liner of all-time?
There are a lot of them. But one of them that I really, really loved is the Count Deepak line. One of the coolest, most surreal experiences I’ve ever had was when I was doing that Larry King telethon for the Golf Oil spill and Deepak Chopra came up to me. He said “I really like that line in your television show, and my niece is going to kill me if I don’t get a picture with you." This is Deepak Chopra saying this to me on the stage of Larry King Live. I thought, if nothing else comes from this television show, no career, no nothing, that would be worth it."

Ian Somerhalder wants a Vampire Diaries musical episode!

Photo: Bad Moon Rising
Yes...I'm GLEEKING out over Ian Somerhalder wanting such a brilliant episode to happen and boy am I hoping that Ian can give a much needed push to make this episode happen. I have been begging and pleading for a Vampire Diaries musical episode to happen for the past 9 months and hopefully Ian can make it happen! Here is what Ian Somerhalder stated in the MTV Hollywood Crush article.

"I would do a musical episode in a heartbeat!" Ian exclaimed, then revealed that one of his fellow cast members has a hidden talent that would be perfect for a musical. "Zach Roerig [aka Matt] is a tap dancer," he said. "Who would've thought?"

So what would be Damon's go-to musical number?

"I don't know… Damon would be more like the barber of Fleet Street [a la "Sweeney Todd"]. He would be the guy who sings as he cuts people's arms off," he said matter-of-factly—which made us laugh out loud. "Full, Johnny Depp style."

Fancast interview with Ian Somerhalder!!

Ian Somerhalder confirms the age of Katherine? Also, Ian talks a lot about tonight's episode "Bad Moon Rising, flashbacks, and much more in this heated interview by Fancast.

"What is Katherine going to do next?
When you saw Damon in season one, and how driven he was to accomplish one goal which was to get her back, that was the only thing he was going to do.  It caused a lot of trouble.  A great deal of this he learned from Katherine and now I think hell hath no theory like a woman scorned, well hell hath no theory like a heartbroken vampire whom his mentor, the love of his life, the woman who made him who he is, is in town and he realizes she doesn’t love him.  Katherine has an agenda.  She’s going to do and kill whatever she needs to do to make that happen.  It’s going to be an intense ride.  She’s powerful.  She’s 350 years old.  She’s manipulative.  She’s sexy and she’s ruthless.  You think Damon’s ruthless, wait until you see the s–t that she pulls."

"Now that True Blood’ has broken down the barrier for vampire shows, would you like to see ‘Vampire Diaries’ get an Emmy nomination next year?
There are so many elements that go into that. To be honest with you, ‘True Blood,’ those guys put in the work. They are on a network that is typically nominated for Emmys and Golden Globes. This is a young network and politically I’m not sure that people want to recognize a show like the ‘Vampire Diaries’ for good work. We don’t even know if our work is that great. Of course that would be icing on the cake, but as long as we can sit down here in our little bubble and try to produce the best quality show we possibly can with the means that we have [we're happy.] We have amazing writers who come up with this stuff every week and it’s our job as the actors to try and tell that story in the best possible way that we can. The rest is up to the universe and politics."

Ian Somerhalder talks Bromance, Bonnie, Vampire Powers and more with TV Squad

In this article Ian Somerhalder talks about what's to come in Season 2 and other exciting things such as his amazing on screen and off screen bromance with Matt Davis.

"How will Damon be handling Bonnie's big threat?
Bonnie (Katerina Graham) can hold her own, unfortunately, with Damon. Anyone who can put Damon down on the ground -- and not in a sexual way -- is a problem. [Laughs] She's a big problem for him. She's a contender ... I think if anything, she's gonna prove to be useful. Katherine is going to be a major, major, major problem. Katherine is a bigger problem than Damon was in Season 1, because she's three times more sadistic and seductive. I think what she wants is far greater than love, which is even scarier.

I think Matt Davis might be clinically insane, tweeting under a pen name, but fans are loving the back and forth you guys have on Twitter.
What is so amazing is, if in fact he is clinically insane, it is such a beautiful thing. I love that man. We totally have a bromance. Damon and Alaric and Elena spend a little bit of time together this season, and I think I can speak for Matt Davis and Nina Dobrev and myself when I say that we love being together on set. The three of us have a blast when we're shooting stuff." You can read the rest of the article over at TV Squad

Entertainment Weekly's interview with Ian Somerhalder

Ian Somerhalder was named the sexiest beast after beating out the competition about a month ago. However, in this interview he not only thanks the fans for voting for him but he talks A LOT about season 2. [Spoilers Ahead]

"We know from promos that Katherine [Nina Dobrev as the vampire lover who essentially turned the brothers in 1864] says she’s returned for Stefan and never loved Damon. What can you tease about season 2?
Poor Damon. Katherine comes back, and it’s the chicken or the egg thing. In the story, Katherine obviously came before Damon, and Damon learned a lot of his antics from Katherine and then 150 years of cynicism. When I watch Nina be Katherine, it’s crazy, the similarity that you see between Katherine and Damon. She starts wreaking havoc in a very similar way that for most of season 1 Damon wreaked havoc — because he wanted something. You’re gonna see Damon in a way in which you haven’t necessarily seen him before dealing with Katherine and what happens after so many years of longing and wanting to be with someone, being hurt and let down in that extreme manner. It’s a lot of fun watching Katherine and how powerful and manipulative and sexy and crazy she is. It’s a lot of fun to play. It’s brutal for me. [In classic Damon delivery] Damon doesn’t always get what he wants now, which is boring for Ian, but great for the story." You can read the rest of the interview over at EW

Rolling Stone lists Ian Somerhalder from the Vampire Diaries on his best/worst list of vampires

Ian Somerhalder's character Damon Salvatore is ranked number 3 best vampire on Peter Travers list. After this article came out on the web I noticed there were quite a bit of people upset that Angel and Spike from 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer" didn't make the list.
